Area Secretary (Possible role share available)
Being an Area Secretary (or sharing the tasks as part of an Admin Team) may seem like it's all about the records. But the Ramblers' is all about the people and opening up walking to people across Britain. The Area Secretary (or Admin Team) keeps all of our groups and members in the loop about what's happening. Making sure that the local voices are heard and the experience and viewpoint they bring, is captured.
Of course, there are meetings that need organising (physical and online) so you'll need to make sure that venues are booked and online meeting links are sent out, maybe some refreshments, and everyone's told about them in plenty of time.
The meetings need to be minuted so you (this could be done by a Minute Secretary). The Area AGM needs co-ordination, compiling the Annual Reports and sending out invites (this could be done by an Area AGM Co-ordinator).
There's also the two-way flow of information, to and from our Ramblers' offices. You may be told of a new policy or initiative that you need to tell the rest of the committee about. You'll also need to make sure that your area's news and key records are communicated in to the offices.
You'll be working with lots of different volunteers and members.
With some flex in the role you can make it fit the time you have available. There are things you'll need to do (or make sure get done) but you can choose to be really visible or take more of a behind the scenes role if you prefer. Whichever you do though, you'll be helping your Ramblers' area deliver on our aims and vision.
