Northants Area is looking for a volunteer to support the Chair and Vi Chair in the role of Secretary
Main purpose of the role - As Area secretary you'll be ensuring the committee keeps running effectively. Help to build relationships within the committee and help the chair in working with the Group Committees and Area members to ensure that the Northamptonshire Area works effectively.
Why you are needed - The Secretary holds a pivotal position on the committee. You will work with the Chair to ensure the smooth running of the Area. They make sure that everyone keeps in touch and information is shared. This is an opportunity to help the Area Committee achieve its goals of ensuring that the Area works effectively in supporting the members in the county. You will be working as part of a team, making contacts within the membership of the Area either directly or through the Group committee members.
What you would be doing - You'll be working with the chair in identifying issues that need to be addressed by the Area Committee to enable Northamptonshire Ramblers to develop to meet the changing times in the county.
You will work with the chair in producing and circulating meeting agendas and taking minutes at the meeting and circulating reports from other volunteers in the committee.
The role will result in having contact with the other members of the committee as well as contact with Group Committee members and keeping in touch with central office.
What is the time Commitment - The committee meets 4 times a year in the evening, (19.30 to 21.30 approx) either on Zoom or in person. The Northants Area AGM is held on a Sunday afternoon in late November or early December.
There is preparatory work for the meetings and post meeting minute writing. Most contact with members and Central Office would be by e-mail but some direct telephone contact may be needed.
